On September 6, 2006, at 8:27 a.m. (Japan Standard Time), Princess Kiko gave birth to a son. The birth provides the first male heir to be born in the imperial family for 40 years...

Otaku! Everywhere! Bow down and show your love and respect for your new prince. He is the inheritor of the nations proud tradition of anime, manga and video games. May the new prince grow up to be strong and wise to lead the empire's hikkikomori to salvation, and champion the cause of "mo-e"! BANZAII!!!

if the prince so much as looks near animu, they will beat the otaku out of him, cause we can't have the head of state be like that, now can we?

The Chrysanthemum Throne is just a figurehead. It has no real power.

An anime otaku ruler of Japan would be interesting

The prince has been named Hisahito. Literally "long-lasting" (Hisa), "Virtuous" (Hito). As far as I know, it's not a reference to any anime or manga. Damn! Why deny the child his kingdom's riches? Why I ask you!?

They are not rulers. People think it is a constitutional monarchy, but it isn't. The Emperor has basically no power at all. He does literally nothing.

He visited my school once, ate at my cafeteria. I wouldn't say that he does nothing.
