Several years ago, just a week or so after my father's death and funeral, I was sitting alone in my room playing a video game. Everyone had left the house and I was alone with my thoughts. I was emotionally shut down after my father's death (and would be for some time) and numb to everyone's comforting. I just sat in my room with a blank expression on my face playing a game not knowing what to feel or how to handle my father's death. This was probably late morning or early afternoon.
After a while, I had this strange feeling I was being watched. I had that feeling for several minutes until I felt a sudden chill and I saw something in the corner of my eye to my right in my doorway. When I turned my head toward the doorway, I saw the shadow of a man projected on the far wall of the hallway.
Once I turned my head toward the door, the shadow quickly moved away and into the hallway. Actually, if I had to describe it more clearly, I would say the shadow "slid" into the other shadows in the hall like it was peeking around the corner and suddenly darted back behind it.
I immediately leapt from the floor and into the hall. I looked around and down the hallway, but I didn't see anything. I knew I saw something! I even open the doors of adjoing rooms and call out to see if someone would answer.
My heart was pounding, the hairs on the back of my neck and on my arms were standing up, and I had a lump in my throat. I was genuinely scared and I thought I saw a ghost. I never told anyone what I saw until years later. I didn't think it would be a good idea to share with my family that I had seen a ghost so soon after my father's funeral.
I still don't have an explanation for what I saw that day. I don't believe in the existence of ghosts and I wouldn't call myself a spirtual person, but if someone were to ask if I had ever seen a ghost, I would have to say yes. I don't know what else it could have been.

It wasn't a moth since the shadow was definitely in the shape of a person and it couldn't been my own shadow since I was in my room and the shadow come from inside the hall since the hall's light source is in the center of the hall's ceiling and I was in my room.
But, yeah, an overactive imagination could explain it, but it was still very real.
It could have been him... So many people "believe" in god or heaven or the like but few of thosepeople ACTUALY act as if it wer real. There may be something to the idea that there is still energy left behind, in places that we inhabited or that were important to us, after we leave... I know that I saw my grandmother leave our house the day we wee moving out. She had lived with us since I was a baby and even taught me to read. She had passed away in the house a year before and when we moved my mother her best friend and myself saw her leave the house. It was no trick of the eye or shadow caused by a bug. It was broad daylight with three fully awake and aware people following an image with their eyes. I am assuming you are young since you are on this board and most here are. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It is infact the biggest tragedy in life for those of us who are lucky enough to be close to our parents. Fortunately the physical pain goes away, unfortunately the deep sadness seams not to. Its been 10 years since my mom passed away and 9 since my father died. Dont put too much stock in replys by the gromets on the board. They are unable (for the most part) to answer this question seriously because of the implications they are in no way ready to face, the fact that their parents WILL die and they will have to live through it.
