Hey guys. After some deliberation, I decided that General would be the best place to post this. Apologies if it seems out of place.
So anyway, I'm a real lazy bugger, and as such my unsorted images folder is now sitting at about +- 86 000 items.
I've finally decided to try and fix the problem, but I've hit a stumbling block... how? I mean, I want a decent system in place, because this is going to be a once off-thing. Should I sort it by category? By series? By artist? Is it better to rename the images, or should I just leave them alone? Should I do as danbooru does with tags?
Perhaps "Del ." is the answer, but I digress. How do you sort your images? Tell me what works for you, how you go about it? Just fishing for ideas at this stage.
You could also use danbooru, there's a guide to installing it here - http://danbooru.donmai.us/wiki/view/Installing_Danbooru , though this looks hellishly complex. What >>2 suggested might be a better idea.
Cheers, guys. Thanks for the input.
I have a similar question. My Pictures are all organized into folders, but how do I organize my Bookmarks? I think there are over 9000 of them! I tried to organize them into /h/, /b/, tech, etc, but there are some bookmarks I have no idea where they should go. These are generally unsorted, and accumulated though the years, from all my different PC's. Please help me, 4-ch. (by the way, you're bookmarked, at least twice)

You'll get your bookmarks sorted into tags in a sidebar, also searchable. If others have added tags for an url, you won't have to. Let others do the work.

Chances are you don't even know what you have bookmarked. Set aside a bit of time, go through them, giving them /good, descriptive names/ and possibly keywords for searching (I only use keywords so I can type shit into my URL bar, not for searching or anything, but I have <15 bookmarks), so you can find things easier. If you have good keywords, you don't even need to bother with folders.

Perhaps KPhotoAlbum's way of sorting is what you're looking for. See a video demo: http://kphotoalbum.org/videos/tour2.html
