Being a shut-in, I'm currently not attending university, nor am I employed. However, eventually I'm going to have to get a decent job. I don't know about other countries, but in the US there are several accredited colleges that offer online degree programs. This would seem like an obvious choice for me because I almost never leave the house and I tend to sleep at weird hours. I'm just curious about several things. First, would getting a degree online increase my chances of getting a non-minimum wage job later on? Secondly, do they charge insane amounts of money? If anyone here has gone through one of these programs, do you think it was worth it? Right now I'm at a weird spot in my life, and this seems like a possible way to get back on track. I'm just concerned that these things are more of a scam than anything.
Even if they aren't just degree mills and actually offer an education, online universities are usually poorly regarded. Potential employers are not impressed that you didn't have the willpower to suffer through 4+ years of dull lectures and final exams like they did.
With that caveat in mind, check out the University of Phoenix.
University of Phoenix is probably one of the worse ones you could suggest.
Truthfully, there are some legit universities, like North Arizona University and some CSUs, that offer degrees completely online.
Future employers will never even know you took all the classes online, and staff is usually the same as those teaching the regular classes.
I'm so sick of the University of Phoenix and their fucking spam. I hate them with a passion.
