A question about fighting (13)

There is one technique which I couldn't yet use, but a friend of mine recommended to me. You just take some good momentum with both of your arms and then slap the enemy with open palms on the ears from both sides simultaneously.

Now, in theory, that should work like a flashbang grenade, that is that it should liquify the liquid that is in your ears which is responsible for your motor controls and balance, that is, it gets disturbed and the enemy should be a bit disoriented and hard on his feet.

Does anybody know if this works and what the name of this technique is?

well, as i said. get a gun instead and just blow his head of. and a hard punch to the jaw is more effectivt, it shakes the brain making you black out or totally loos your balance.

a palm shot to the center of the chest or a knee to the head seem to work for me

don't forget to "power up" or "set-up" or whatever before you do this.

It's probably more effective to set up a multi-hit combo. What character are you playing?

Also watch your power level and hp bar before doing anything rash.

Assuming you could succeed at get both hands to hit exactly over his ears in the right fashion, the most you could to achieve is making his ears pop painfully. However, even succeeding at such an attack would be really difficult unless he was perfectly still and unaware of you.

Try a swift jab to the solar plexus, a kick to the groin, headbutting his nose; or better than any of these, try running away. If you seriously don't know a lot about fighting, running away is by far the most intelligent thing you can do, and it's great exercise to boot.

one finger in the right place on someone's shoulder can cause a surprisingly great amount of pain...

That's true, but in a real fight you will barely notice pain, so the "nerve strike" techniques are pretty much useless. In theory you could temporarily paralyze a limb, but even the highest level expert would have to be extremely lucky to pull that off. Much better to train higher probability moves (>>9 has good suggestions).

i wouldn't do anything to the nose. you can accidentally kill somebody that way if you aren't careful

Unless, and even if, you know what you're doing, that's always a risk in a fight. I'm hoping most people who don't know how to fight aren't going around looking to start them. We call this 'survival instinct'. However, if any of you are out to win a Darwin award, go for it.

Additionally, smashing someone's nose and driving the bone into their brain is mostly an urban myth. Boxers and street fighters (the latter being dumbasses) get broken noses all the time. Most of the nose is not bone, but cartilage. I've had my nose smashed more than a few times and it's never even been horribly broken. (One fracture that could have healed crooked if someone hadn't put it back into place. That hurt!) However, it hurts like hell and makes you reconsider continuing the fight. If you hit right, you can cause enough bleeding to be hospital worthy perhaps, and perhaps you can break the bone behind the cartilage. I've not heard of an actual real instance where this occured in a fight and resulted in death. Do some googling yourself though, if you doubt me.

Note that any head injury that concusses the brain has caused internal injury which could prove fatal. In this manner, a hit to the nose can cause death, as can any other hit to the head. However, in barehanded fist-fighting this is extremely rare. (Unless you crack their head on the pavement or somesuch.)

As such, if your opponent doesn't bring a weapon to the fight, don't bring one in yourself. It increases the likelihood of even you dying a hundredfold, even if it seems more likely to help you win. Better to have a broken nose and a couple broken ribs then end up dead because someone wrested a pipe out of your hands and beat your skull with it.
