Mainstream anonymous discussion board (8)

Does anyone else think that English speakers should have something of comparable size and variety to 2ch? This site is a good start, but it really doesn't have the mainstream appeal to attract the majority of those looking to discuss things anonymously, and its range is very limited (this site only seems to attract those with an interest in Japan and related stuff). Does anyone think that such a site could be successful? I'm just tired of sites that are too specialized and require registration, I guess. I tend to think that discussions can be much better if everyone has the possibility of being anonymous.

I'm with you on that. I post here regularly, in my humble way, hoping to make 4-ch a better place. But yeah, we need more people to compensate for the trolls. Maybe the boards should have more sections, like "Sports". It's bad to have too many sections, lest you spread everyone out too thin, but still. You'd think things like 'sports' and 'travel' would be pretty elemental.

Oh yeah, you're right. Just proves how little I care about sports.

...sports that aren't Starcraft.

I think we'll really have something when people can stop talking about keeping their pee in a jar.

Perhaps Squeeks can ban all interstate truck drivers?

Exactly. People outside certain groups would never post here because of that stuff (which would, at best, amuse others, and, at worst, repulse them). It's really pretty pointless to complain about the lack of growth of the community when the community is only designed to appeal to a very small segment of people online. What I was talking about was an entirely new board that wouldn't focus on particular interests (more general, I mean.)

So, in other words, an English board with no direct references to 2ch, or Japanese net-culture, but with a similar ease-of-use and anonymity.
