Hi everyone!

I'll start:

Right now I work as a part-time technical assistant in a Language Center. I make about $13 an hour, but with taxes it's more like $9. I work about 22 hours a week, though it varies.

How about Anonymous?

I'm a student! I scrounge off the state! lol

I'm also a part time bartender. I earn about £6 an hour (about $12) and don't have to pay tax. I work about 15 hours a week.

I'm doing an voluntary social year here in germany right now, as a soon-to-be rettungshelfer / rettungssanitäter (EMT basic / intermediate, I guess).

"Clerk" It's a PC word for "secretary". My job's more data entry than taking phone calls. I make $9/hr and work around 24hrs/week. I can't hold down a better job due to my health. (I'm working for my father's business, and I'm not the main secretary.)

Back in school atm but my last job was about £6.50 an hour

Think that comes to about $14 an hour. not bad.

In Britain recently there has been an introduction of EMA's

Educational Maintainance Allowances which allow kids from lower income families to get about £30 a week just for turning up at school.

I don't want to be branded for judging all people like this, but evidence suggests that kids on EMA won't spend a penny of it on their education and won't bother acheiving high grades in school anyway, whereas kids from a higher income family are more likely to get a job to pay for their educational needs (ie stationary, whatever) and get higher grades in school anyway.

What I'm saying is; noone likes pikeys.

I have no job. :(

Where did you get that "evidence" from?

Kids from working class families are more likely to work actually.

Kids from higher income families are more likely to get their parents to pay for their education.

And they still claim the EMA on top of that.

It's a gateway job to a higher position. Believe me I don't intend to stay here forever. I'm just using it for the experience.

I'm a student and a part-time usher. I make $8 an hour but there aren't performances very often at all and they only last 3 hours.

I work in the electronics department at my local Target making $8/hr. I work about 30 hours per week. Not the best job ever, but it pays the bills until I can manage to get back into school.
