Fucking "anime & manga" where does Touhou fit in? (14)

I wish these boards would stop having "anime" or "manga" sections, and just have one or two "otaku" or "2d" sections. Or a "Comics" and "animation" section that was non-discriminatory, or specifically Japanese. What's been going on on 4chan's /a/ is really bothersome, where one userbase is kicking out another because they have totally different conceptions of what the boards should be about.

For fuck's sake, nobody calls them "manga".

Touhou is a video game series, simple as that.
It's nothing to do with us that the closet weeaboos on /v/ exiled Touhou fans to /a/ in order not to confront their shame. It didn't belong in /a/ in the first place and /jp/ is fine if /v/ won't take it back.

But why not /a/ when its such a popular doujin series?

Because it is a video game.

Also, quit visiting 4chan, it's bad for you.

Can't argue with that.

But so is Kanon, Clannad, Higurashi, F/S/N, and countless others; they're all "fair game".

Kanon, Clannad, Higurashi, F/S/N have had anime made of them.
Touhou has not (excluding some piece of shit doujin production that certainly isn't what you're talking about when you start a Touhou thread)

But they have a plethora of comics series.

I still find it frustrating that the western otaku only thinks in terms of animation. To them a character is only an "anime character" the "fandom" is only an "anime fandom". Animation has always been an appendage of the broader otaku market.

People would probably care more about visual novels if someone would translate them. Same goes for any other less mainstream media.
