can't be an A student without effort. it's mostly about organizing.
make a schedule of your upcoming exams and try to study in order for them. don't go for the all nighters since your brain won't get much pause-time to go through all of the new information.
make sure to write down notes on what you understood so far from reading your course and after you read the whole course just concentrate on your notes.
Well it depends on your university. I was once a student of so-called best university of my country and got utterly disappointed with it. So the best secrets about being A+ grade student is to choose A+ grade university. And in my country there is only one university which bears this honourable title. But today even this noble university became bad. So only one way to be student of this university is to create a time machine and move to 60's/70's when this university was truly aristocratic and noble. It's easier than trying to pass entrance exams.

In many so-called best universities there is an option that if you dropped out, you can take a year again and graduate after all. And with this you can go to your yume daigaku to study.. for example... european union law.

I always think it's funny how schools differ between Japan and North America.
In Japan, You've got to study and work hella hard just to get IN to a school... and then it's pretty much easy street while the school gets a paycheck. Basically you have to be smart enough to graduate before you can enroll.
Whereas in North America, they'll let almost anyone in, but then you gotta work hard.
Anyway, to answer the first question - I always go over ALL my class notes, or sometimes the textbook if the prof is nice enough to tell you there's something important there. I go and write down several things. 1) things with a star beside them b/c the teacher said it was important and would be on a test. 2)things I don't quite understand. 3)and most importantly, things that look like they could easily be made into a test question - like, lists of things, or important definitions. Always remember, the teacher is a lazy person too. When I'm looking at something in a textbook that seems really simple and easy to make a test question about, I write it down.
