Life is boring if we just sit at the computer, go to work/school, and hang out.

We need an adventure. So let's post about our adventures, and give ideas.

Urban exploration, Train hopping, Volunteer work, Trip to Korea, Backpacking, Hitchhiking, and everything else.

Post it all here.

For the uncreative amongst us (including myself), post some suggestions and tips on how to go about accomplishing them. Preferably they would not be costly, but whatever.

Hiking through the hills of Wales on a cool rainy day, and then having some hot tea afterwards

Today was the hottest day in England so far (which isn't a hard thing to be).
The sun was shining, the sky was clear blue.

I got my Holga (toy camera) and went for a walk through a widlife preserve and up a stony road (which is private property, so I guess that makes it trespassing), to reach a hill that sits next to my town.
The hill is steep and definitely the highest point for many miles.
At the top lies a small broken down stone bunker (probably from WW1/2). I clambered up, whipped out the Holga and took some great shots of my town and the London cityscape that lies beyond it.

It's the first time I've gone out of my own volition in ages. It felt good.

I've been to some cool places, but I never really get out and have an adventure.

I need to go and have some fun...

I went for a walk in a forest today, out in the rain. I came across someone's house but I pussied out instead of going to check it out.

It was nice to walk though, I love hiking in the rain.

It's getting really green out, I can't wait for summer!

Peace all.

I got lost in New York once when i was 16. My father was playing chess in the park with honos in central park and i went off my own. Couldn't find the chess boards again untill much later when he was not there.
So i decided that i wanted to get out of the park, i just started walking in one direction untill i smelled the asphalt. Eventually i heard music from somwhere and went towards it. That was at about 85th street. A band was playing some sort of latin music and a bunch of latins were hanging around. They were not really dancing and partying and shit since this was the middle of the day, they just stood around and listened.

I had no idea how the streets and avenues where laid out at this time so i just started walking around. I eventually ended up at about 120th street where there were brown people everywhere.

The only possesions i had with me at this time was half a pack of unfiltered lucky strikes, 5 dollars and a hotel keycard. Black women with large bottoms gave me angry looks as i made my way through their little neighbourhood. What struck me at this point was how quiet everything was. In contrast to broadway and where i had been before this was a desert. I smoked my lucky strikes trying to figure out where the fuck i was. I took a look at my keycard and saw on it an adress and an ad for some camera-shit. The adress anyway was 23rd street. I came to a place were there actually was some human life. There i asked a police officer about the adress, he said i had to go down this street where he stood till i came to 23rd street. So well, i started walking down all those 100 hundred streets. Just me, my cigarettes and a fleeting coca cola now and then. Felt sort of good to be honest.

Eventually, i finally got there. This place looked nothing like the place my hotel had been in. The buildings were shorter and dirtier, sunlight came through at a more intruding rate. At the exact place were the adress on the card pointed, there was this camera store. As it turned out, the adress was not the adress of the hotel but the adress for where the camera special offer shit could be bought. I just started walking around completely at random, i swear to god i must have walked about 300+ blocks that day.
Eventually i asked another police officer about the name of the hotel and he gave me the adress. Just as i started walking towards it, it started pouring down rain. At this point i could not give a damn about taking shelter, i just wanted to get to that goddamn hotel and pour a bottle of whiskey down my throat. So i just kept walking getting so wet that rain could no longer soak me anymore. And eventually i reached the hotel. All my cigarettes were wet but i smoked them anyway.

This is one of the only good threads on this board.

Earlier this week two of my friends and I walked deep into the woods (I live in the south, so we have areas like this near us) and camped overnight.

I brought some marijuana, and that made the experience so much better. It makes anything you do an adventure.

So, I was driving around the back roads (I live in the middle of nowhere, so when I say "back roads" I mean it), and I found some cool places. I won't go into details, but I found this farmer guy just standing around, and I decided to go talk to him. Cool guy, cool dog.

I just pulled up and got out of my car and started chatting. I did this with a few people (people were just doing stuff around their houses, chores, etc) and I had a good time. Met some cool people.

I'm not sure this tactic would work in a city, since people are usually much more closed off, but the folks around there were very open.

Similar story to >>6 but where as he/she eventually reached the place. I didn't. The goal was to walk from Astor PL where they sell Japanese stuff to an Anime store on W30. So I walked down Broadway until I was almost at China town. When I asked for directions I was told that I was very far away from where I wanted to go. I did get to see a good chunk of Manhattan though. Saw lots of stores. Went to two street fairs, and learned a very valuable lesson on how Manhattan is laid out.

Wow, I forgot about this thread... Why don't you people post in my thread?

Let's get it started again, OK? :3

I went to a party for the first time in my life, just this year (more than one actually).

It was a little thing, just 10 people or so gathered around a fire. I was kind of the odd man out, but I guess that comes with the territory, since I was new in the building.

My instinct with social gatherings like that is "RUN! HIDE!" but I decided to get a little ballsy and just go out there and do it. I mean, you never know what

The first party wasn't that great. I just drank a beer, chatted a bit with a boring guy, made a joke that got some laughs, stared at the ground, and headed to bed (it was late, I was only out there for a few minutes). I was really nervous, and I didn't like some of the guests that my roomies had invited. Nothing weird or embarrassing happened, but I just didn't feel right.

But the second one was great. I was more comfortable with everyone there- there were less people, and I liked and knew everyone there- and I managed to have some good fun with everyone, joking, chatting, laughing. Even played a few songs for everyone on the guitar (note: music is a great way to connect with people, ESPECIALLY if you can play an instrument- even, like, a tuba or something).

It can really pay off to jump out of your comfort zone every once in a while.

I went for a road trip during winter for the first time this year, driving by myself.

It wasn't too bad, didn't even have to put my chains on. I went to visit a friend of mine and their new baby. What a cute kid, and smart to boot.

When I had friends I would go wandering through the city's expansive network of drainage tunnels. I used to skateboard as well. I miss the adrenaline rush one gets from throwing oneself off a flight of stairs, hoping to land safely upon the wheeled plank beneath one's feet.
