I live in Japan, and it fucking sucks. I made a thread about this a lonnnng time ago, but this bears repeating.

1. Anime and manga are more expensive in Japan. The prices are ridiculous, and it's hard for me to justify buying anime even though I feel it's important for fans to make an effort to support the industry.
2. If you are a girl, you will be groped and treated like shit. I have had men grab my ass in public 7 different times in the past year and a half. My Japanese friends say that women should just grit their teeth and bear it, since if you try to do something about it you will be publicly shamed. I also feel dirty and pathetic when these incidents occur.
3. Office culture in Japan is...intense. You are expected to show up at social gatherings even if you do not want to. And at these social gatherings people have the EXACT SAME CONVERSATIONS AGAIN AND AGAIN. I've had like 50 conversations on the power of beer to refresh you after a day's work. You have to say "good morning" every day in a very specific way, and if you don't then someone will approach you and tell you that's not how things are done at company XYZ.
4. The people treat gaijin like shit. Even the ones who try to be nice come across as condescending and rude by American standards. There are also a large number of Japanese men who think gaijin women are sluts and that they can get you to open your legs at the drop of a hat. Fuckers.

I wish all the Japanohiles could actually visit GLORIOUS NIPPON. They'd change their tune.

I download all my anime and manga, I desire to be part of a culture in which it is socially acceptable to grab asses in public, I'm unemployable in an office anyway, and people already treat me like shit in my native country. Still sounds great to me!

Hah hah hah. Yeah man. PENIS. I know a guy who lived in Japan for a year for work, and he hated it, but for different reasons. He seemed to say that everything felt cold and unfriendly, nobody would talk to each other in public, and stuff like that.

I don't doubt that Japan sucks. I don't think there's a perfect country anywhere in the world, but yeah man, PENIS DENIS. PENIS COCKIN'. I can fully understand how Japan would be likely to suck, big-time.

I know man, why is she getting all upset over some one fucking touching her sexually without her permission? He's just touching her in a way that makes her feel uncomfortable, terrified, and upset! Whats that big deal? We should all be able to touch each other how we want, or at the very least men should be able to touch women however they want.

It's not like he's the one being a stupid piece of shit, and that a culture that tolerates and accepts that kind of behavior it is a fucking shitty culture. I mean a culture should never, ever be one where a victim of sexual harassment should be able to resist in anyway possible and that the people around them should support them, not be victim blaming fuck asses. And if discreetly stomping on his toes doesn't work, she should just give up and let him touch her, because women who make scenes are "bitches".

And when her boy friend breaks up with her, her friends don't want to be around her, and random strangles physically and verbally harasses her because shes a "slut" because she let that man touch her, it's totally her fault for, well, being a woman and existing.
