"my boyfriend plays both. He said bass isn't as hard as e-guitar. :)"

That would be true only if you're playing the typical MTV stuff, with single notes being played repeatedly, and endlessly, over a four-chord progression. Try listening to other stuff; e.g. Jaco Pastorius, John Patitucci, Billy Sheehan, Marcus Miller, etc. or the old school jazz greats, and you'll discover that the bass is not really a "simple" instrument -- it's just as difficult as any other instrument, and just as lovely, so long as you put practice into playing it.

I personally play the guitar. I've been at at it for about 6 years, and I tackle lead guitar stuff usually. I play metal (In Flames, Children of Bodom, old Metallica, etc.) and jazz (though I'm still trying to, because improvising's pretty difficult; I like Frank Gambale, Greg Howe, John Mclaughlin, Al Dimeola, Charlie Parker (he's on saxophone, BTW), etc.

So if you've any questions on the guitar, feel free to ask. If I can help, I will.
