what's up everyone. i got into cooking recently, and have a question:

where can i get uncommon ingredients like foie gras and creme fraiche, and quality ingredients like truffles and fresh seafood for sushi? damned recipes i've read at Borders look interesting, but they require a little more exotic than normal ingredients. I live in Southern California. Thanks much.

Fresh sea food is a challenge for every chef these days. Seems we're running out of it on a global level.

Foie gras isn't very hard to find in most cities, and I wouldn't be surprised to find it in a few supermarkets, provided they're in a middle/upper class areas.

Truffles are expensive.

And then there's the internet. You might be able to buy directly from the supplier.

Go to Point Loma Seafood. It is the best fish market in all of SD and possibly socal.
