Recommendations for line art and coloring? (6)

I've been drawing for a big deal of my life. Drawing things from manga, to anime, to chibis, hell- the whole anime scene. But I'm also good with the weapons, armor, monster, fantasy genre. Now the question is.

I never really was picky on the utensils I used to draw..
now I noticed there were younger artist [i'm 18] who know the back and fronts of lining and coloring [shading and all that good stuff]

I don't know what to pick up to start coloring my own art. [Since I liked the black and white theme] but I wanna try something new.

Photoshop and digital art- is way to difficult to grasp- though I have an understanding.

Does anyone have any ideas or recommendation for pens, markers, and what I should try?

Get a decent black pen that's permanent and pigment-based. Fine point. Usually that's pretty good to start with.

copic sketch markers or prisma color markers

For line drawing, various pencils for the base sketches/alterations to them, and pigment liners for inking. Get 5 or 6 different sizes and use them all.

For coloring, try Prismacolors on clean, strong photocopies of the line drawings (to avoid possible smudging/ruination of the original drawings).

Look for Copic markers, friend of mine is a cartoonist (and anime lover) and she do wonders with them, quite pricey, but they worth.

Photoshop is difficult to get the hang of, but if you decide to try digital art again I suggest Paint Tool Sai. It has less special features than Photoshop, but if you only want to draw and color and not use shitty filters I recommend it. It's got a more user friendly lay-out. It's more sensitive to tablet pressure than Photoshop, and you can make the smoothest fucking lines without even using the pen tool.

(not what you were asking for but I take every opportunity to pimp SAI)
