I lol'd
details plz
ebaumsworld steals YTMND content
YTMND users publicly call for forum invasion
4chan joins in
ebaumsworld simply shut down their forums (they are still shut down as of now)
YTMND and 4chan attempt DDoS, maybe it costs ebaums $3 or so, but no significant effect
I root for anything that bothers the petrarchy of internet filth
Is there a Wikipedia article about this yet?
YTMND has original content that its users can get upset over having been stolen?
>>3
I know what you mean, but please don't use the word "steal" to refer to copyright infringement. It's wrong to use the word that way (and also an act of piracy).
Hasn't ebaums been doing this for years O:
I don't like ebaumsworld, but AOL-policing it to death would set a scary precedent...
Internet-drama in the west, lol

I would call it stealing if you're getting rich from it. Pirating a movie, burning it onto DVD-Rs and selling them (especially for more than the cost of the media) isn't cool. This is really what Ebaum is doing. He's getting rich from other peoples' work, and that's not cool.
You guys forget the whole "malicious anti-SA code on the front page" thing. THAT is illegal.
Also, intellectual property is still property. Theft is still theft.
> intellectual property is still property
How so? It's not something that can be taken away from you.
Neither is identity, but identity theft is still a crime.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_property
There you go. The concept of "intellectual property" is nothing new.
>>15,17
"Intellectual property" and "identity theft" are just terms people have started to use, but they are not really property or theft respectively. You may have a point about the malicious anti-SA code, though.
from wikipedia:
> YTMND users have persuaded others from Newgrounds, 4chan, adult swim, KNova, Fark, GameFAQs
Despite lurking on 4chan, the only thread I've noticed on 4chan namedropping "eboums world" is a thread in /dis/ that says "ebaum sucks". That's hardly joining a raid.
>>19
Maybe you need to look at /b/ more.
I think what draws ire to ebaumsworld isn't so much the use of the content(a lot of it is also on other "lol funny video/flash" sites) but the blatant watermarking of everything with the ebaums logo.
This is great. You think Bauman isn't stealing? He's committing thievery, just like all of us who download liscensed mp3's. It's not different. .mp3's aren't something that can be taken away from you. They are just copies, just like everything on Bauman's site. And not only does he steal all of that stuff, along with branding it with his logo, he REMOVES any credit that may have been on the content previously, even if he has to tear the Flash file apart. Sorry >>16, that's ILLEGAL.
That SA megathread just made things a whole lot more interesting
>>22
Please note that illegitimate copying is not stealing. Neither in a legal legal, nor in an ethical way.
legal way, not legal legal
OTL
>>24
YTMND, Newgrounds, 4chan, adult swim, KNova, Fark, and GameFAQs seem to disagree with you on ethical terms.
And anyways, the laws need to be interpreted differently in internet disputes. This isn't an opinion, it is a fact proven by the mp3 controversy of lore that was nothing but "illegitimate copying" of music.
So you mean the RIAA propaganda that compares illegitimate copying with stealing (note that you don't have a stolen object anymore, after it was stolen) and piracy (that is pillaging, murdering (killing people) etc. on the high seas) should be made into law?
>>27
I mean you should grow up and think of a better arguement than, "Words can't have more than one meaning."
Rebranding everything is more like "plagiarism" than "illegitimate copying". That's why everyone is so pissed off. His watermark is ugly, too.
>>30 McOrmond is Canadian and thus obselete
>>31
Try less ad Hominem and more arguments.
>>32 Tell that to Neil LOL
Something Awful is just as bad as ebaum because of this whole gay Chuck Norris thing. Who the fuck cares about this actor.
>>34
No one at all, which is why Chuck Norris/Vin Diesel jokes are so funny; the realization that in reality, no one really gives a shit about either of them.
Lurk moar or GTFO.
So, they're funny because they're not funny.
The only people I know who read SA are 15-year-olds

the only people i know who will even admit to knowing what SA is are 15-year-olds
