I like a lot of their articles, they're pretty funny.
The articles are generally regarded as okay satire, but their forums are very, very mean to various people. They mock people, invade forums, etc. This is not something the webmaster Lowtax approves of, but it keeps on going anyway. Being mean to people isn't nice!

I had heard about the 10bux thing and how they banned people senselessly, but aren't the forums mostly a sideshow? I mean, I don't go to gamefaqs to read the idiot posts there.
I get the impression that the rest of the site is the sideshow, and people go there mainly for the forums.

SA users pay for their forum, which makes them think it's much better than other ones, because otherwise they'd have wasted their money.

I like it in the SA forums. The ruthless banning of idiots and shitheads keeps the place worth reading.
What I think is interesting with SA is the fact that you (theoretically) pay a one-time cost. How can a one-time lump of $10 cover a running one? If nobody would get banned, things wouldn't work (a user is bound to consumed more than $10 over a period of time). New members won't help, they'll also require bandwidth.
This pretty much means that either:
A) They have to be happy with the banhammer.
B) They can cover their costs with advertising.
In either case I'm not spending ten american moneys.
1) User hears that SA is the awesome
2) User pays 10 bux
3) User finds out it sucks and leaves
4) PROFIT!

Yeah, SA is so much more mature than 4-ch. I posted a thread in 4-ch's romance board and everyone was like "LOL I HAD SEX" and "BUT DID YOU GET HEAD", and eventually Squeeks had to trash it.

People hate SA because a lot of the anon net culture comes out of 4chan's /b/, and in general /b/ thinks they're better than everywhere else on the internet. Therefore they hate all other big sites, such as ytmnd, SA, etc. Its sort of stupid, but then again thats the way /b/ rolls.
