lol amerikka. If I was a tech company that needs shitloads of bandwith, the first thing I'd do was move to some datacenter outside of the USA so at least my non-us customers (Which are, when combined, probably more than the US guys anyways) get good speeds.

Well, it's a choice between two evils. Government regulation of the internet to try and keep it open or control by a bunch of monopolies that control 90% of all access to the internet in America. Either way, it's a bunch of rich people that just want to cash in on the internet to get richer.

More regulation will mean more monopolies. The answer is less regulation; specifically, deregulate enough spectrum for wireless mesh networks to give the telcos a run for their money.
