How do you get work done? (13)

I tend to float in and out of a state of total "what I should be doing" avoidance. I'm going to a local college, and I haven't been getting my work done properly since the last holiday break.

What do you do to actually get work done? To be honest, when I was working it wasn't too much of a problem, because I didn't have any take home work. But getting paperwork and such done for college is getting to be a real problem for me. But any time I have to do stuff at home, I end up avoiding it (watching anime, browsing boards, playing games, download music videos, you know the drill, fapping etc.)

Man, I want to get out of this circle of avoidance, it sucks

Don't ask this NEET.
I have the exact same problem. In fact a lot of us here do, which is probably why we're here in the first place. (-_-)

While not doing the same particular things as you, I have the same problem with avoidance of necessary things in favor of entertainment. It's usually because whatever I should be doing seems hard or time-consuming, or I'm unsure how to go about it. What helps is just resisting distractions entirely (as if I give in a little, I will usually give in a lot). Also, taking care of some easy task can help, as that little spark of "Hey, I did something worthwhile!" can move me to do more.

I have this audiobook by David Allen, "Getting Things Done", that probably offers some helpful advice, but (this sounds like a joke but I swear it's true) I haven't gotten around to listening to it yet.

>>1 I usually wake up at ass-in-the-morning. When no one is online, and there's nothing on TV, there's not much else you can do but work. I've done most of my work that way. Also, try taking work with you in a notebook if you go somewhere. If you're on a train or a bus, work on it there. Just ten minutes here and there really adds up.

If you think you have the self-control for it, try working on a punishment-reward system. For example, you can't watch any anime unless you've done x amount of work for the day. If you do really good, reward yourself with icecream or hentai.

If you can do that, you'll probably get all of your work done in the morning, then have the rest of the day to bum. Try working from 3AM to 8AM. Somehow it seems like less time than Noon to 5PM.

I don't get work done. I stare at an almost-blank screen for a few hours, trying to think of something to add to my design, but insead thinking about the flaws with time-travel theories, then just say ''fuck it'' and come here or go look at webcomics.
