For some odd reason, I've always wanted to learn sign language. Is this a difficult language to learn? Does it have any use outside of communicating with the deaf and/or mute?
Are any 4-ch'ers fluent in sign language? :o
>Does it have any use outside of communicating with the deaf and/or mute?
It also has academic use to demonstrate linguistic theories about language development and acquirement.
>Is this a difficult language to learn?
Like with any language, that is a very subjective thing to say.
I know a girl who picked it up on a whim and now hangs out with a lot of deaf people. The language is pretty fun. It's not hard at all to learn some signs in an hour and be able to communicate very simple ideas.
oh, and I'm talking about ASL here.
I found it helpful talking to friends in class when the teachers turned their backs.

Christ I hated the people that did that

Telepathy works better for that. You don't have to wait for the the teachers to turn their backs.
Reviving a dead thread, don't want to make a new one.
I'm learning this now. Why does the grammar have to slap you in the face and yell EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS A LIEEEEEEEE?
