Dear Liesl,

The last time I told you I had been in love with you for most of high school, I was seventeen, we were going to graduate tomorrow, you'd had a couple of beers, and I was on a caffeine/sugar OD.

Now I'm all grown up, I have a girlfriend, and you're off on your own. I loved you with all my heart, but I want to thank you for being that unreachable thing that helped me learn more about myself. I'll always love you in that way.
