Well, if you refer to old art, people used to find slightly chubby > fat women attractive, because that meant they were well fed / were well off in society.
Birth of Venus by Botticelli... IIRC, she was kinda chubby, just a bit. There are more examples, but I'm no art nerd so I don't know!
