Intelligent Females? (37)

1 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-05-03 04:38 ID:Sebkyiv+

I've been having a hard time trying to find intelligent females. Is there some genetic basis on why females are not up to par in math, science and engineering? I've met a couple intelligent females in my PhD program but they are married and fobby.

Is there any correlation between intelligence and attractiveness of a female? I would suggest negative correlation, but I have not met many females.

Why?

Let me tell you since you are willing to persue a PhD, its just this simple, Women are like abacus' that are broken and only posses one row of beads. On the left you have beauty and on the right you have intellegence on the left. Extremes of both are valley girls and women whom are very smart but don't feel that social interaction is needed(nerds) thus don't take care of one's self appearence. Some women have more beads on this rung then others(not all women were created equal, have more beads and may surpass other women in both beauty and intellegence), but women choose to position these beads according to what they value more intellegence or beauty. I my past I have come across about 4 women that have managed to perfect this balancing feat, so don't get your hopes down they are out there, you just have to look. Just remember that women can change(if that sound rude or manipulative i don't mean it that way) and if you find someone don't let them go because I find that these women are too far apart and should be pursued. Cause you dont know when the next one will show

I do not have the means to pursue females. I have a stipend that is close to the poverty line.

Then I guess your life will be one of no relationship with the opposite sex, unless you bump into a very assertive female and tells you "take of you pants...hot stuff."

Intelligent and good looking females are married. You gotta start young ... you know what I mean?

The problem starts at the middle school and high school education level. At that point, many women are interested in science and math, but insecure and foolish male teachers, as well as very unintelligent mothers tainted by the same program, discourage them overtime, and this is why there are so few of them, at least in the engineering program. I'm a EE student and have found, surprisingly, that the women in my program are not only extremely smart, but fairly attractive as well. Of course, most of them all have business major lazy ass boyfriends, which sucks for us. Point is, our country's (yes I'm being a haughty american here assuming you're from the US) pre-collegiate educational system is inadequate, which explains why the ratio of men to women is 31:1 in engineering, 1:3 in business or humanities. INterestingly enough, quite a few of the women at my college are biology or chemistry majors....

There are movements to help change this system, so that more women join us in the engineering and math world. Trouble is, you really have to want to do it, and most of them get weeded out considering how hard it is. Women and men are no different in this regard.

OK a female on the internet? IMPOSSIBLE??!??!

I must quote larry summers, "While I do not agree with their strong feelings in the matter, I nevertheless understand them. After all, women are ruled by their emotions and are therefore not susceptible to reason and logic, poor things."

I went through the entire "photobook" for ECE - both grads and ugs at my school. First off, the grads are 95% Chinese. NO JOKE. Secondly if they are "good looking," they are much older than I am (I'm 20 - and yes I'm in a phd program in economics at a top 10 school). Fob Chinese are usually married. Just to make a note, students don't make a lot of money. Those who pursue graduate degrees get shitty stipends - even in engineering (around 25K+). I hate to say this, but a good reason to marry for grad students is money. LOLZ. I'd never do it, but having no money, no car, no life, is no fun outside of the joys of research.

No.. Actually, the problem starts much earlier than middle school, but never ceases to be reinforced.

>>4 Females and men are just as much ruled by their emotions, they've just been taught to play by different rules and display their emotions differently. Naturally, females and men are not identical, otherwise we'd be bisexual (in the biological sense of the word) beings. However, the actual gender-induced differences are minimal and it's mainly socially and culturally imposed behavior.

Usually, when someone whines and bitches about that all women or men are alike, the grave mistake the person is doing is to assume that they themselves (or just the good sides within themselves) are the norm and thus can serve as representative for their own gender, and lump millions, or even billions of radically different people into a single entity. That doesn't really work unless you make ridiculously simplyfied generalizations, like "humans breathe air" or "they're mammals".
Even "women have boobies" is only a generalization and not a rule. There are women who are flatchested, there are women who no longer have breast since cancer, etc. The ones who do not fit a generalization must by no means be in a vast miniority, there are often times when a generalization only actually holds true to the largest miniority within the artificial group (if at all to any of the larger miniorities at all).

What I don't understand here is why would a man want to find intelligent women?

15 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-05-05 14:08 ID:lGLgnpsR

All the intelligent women must be smart enough to know that relationships aren't worth the trouble.

well math and science is great and all but have you considered other forms of "intellegience"? I prefer english majors myself.

18 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-05-05 17:30 ID:Sebkyiv+

I don't think anyone is complaining about the lack of female English majors, or humanities majors, or JDs, or MBAs. The real scarcity is within the sciences, social sciences, mathematics, statistics, engineering, and such.

You don't get out much, do you? If you did, you'd find an intelligent female. Having an attitude like that certainly doesn't help, either

25 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-05-24 17:21 ID:55ESl/TO

when I read the title of this thread, the first thought that entered my head was: "hahahahahaha, yeah right!" hmm. well sorry about that...

Anyway, I think intelligence can manifest itself in many ways, so you don't have to just look at how good women are in maths and physics. There are plenty of intelligent and beautiful (simultaneously!) in my economics faculty.

About correlation, I'd say slightly positive, but then beauty is a very personal thing. I believe that intelligence shows in the face and behaviour of people, and I usually find it beautiful. Unfortunately, I have this problem of judging girls with big boobs as very intelligent ;)

26 Name: Secret Admirer : 2006-06-03 21:02 ID:mOPHk5kT

>>25
There's a difference between girls with big boobs that have learned to rely on their boobs to get around places and nonstop flaunt them, and girls who just happend to have big boobs without gratuitously exploiting them.

Though those are not necessarily separate groups. There are intelligent, big boobed females who exploit their boobs, though they are somewhat of a miniority, and a rather confusing one at that. Some of those intelligent, bigboobed girls are vicious and scary, others just use several ways to get what they strive towards yet manage to maintaining humanity.

Like with every "group" that exists, they're not homogenous groups. Just that a number of types are more likely to occur in them than some other groups.

that is funny. over here, girls are actually pooning guys in areas of maths and science. actually, everything except sport.
it is true however that looks and intelligence don't usually go together (even for guys). but i think that's because the smart ones have better things to do that to worry about their appearance.

my friend gets women like that all the time recently.
but he's attractive, and charismatic so that may explain it.

>>13
well IMO, they only subconsiously only count those that they are atracted to, and simply ignore anyone else.
and no, not just women either, obviously.

Yes, there are intelligent women in the world. It's just what some choose to spend their brainpower on, actually I should say most.

But hey, how easy is it too not be like that in a world where everything is dictated by society and people judge you for not spending 150$ on a pair of jeans?

31 Name: Secret Admirer : 2007-03-29 01:48 ID:Heaven

I, for one, find that most women are useless human beings who stop maturing on a mental/emotional level around 12 years of age.

That is because you want to date a female who is 12 years old and needs a valid excuse so he can.

i like a woman with wit and intelligence.. it drives me wild.. otherwise i'll be exceedingly bored while the chatter on about american idol or the VMA's.

the down side.. i've only met 3 or 4 such women.. and usually theyre attached, or their intelligence has crossed the line into madness.

but yes.. for those of us too intelligent for our own good, intelligence is a must.

if i dont thing a girl is at least as intelligent as me i feel like a cold, calculating jerk in making any advances.

that said this does not bode well for me. i was born jewish and most jewish women i've met are materialistic or too cynical to balance out my already ample cynicism.

Intelligence is a huge plus to many, or at least maturity and/or wisdom. I will never go on a date with a girl twice who:

-does not know how to turn on a computer and use it without getting a crap-ton of spyware
-does not know how to handle money
-knows how many people <insert pop star here> has dated in the last year but does not have a basic grasp of high school level sciences
-reads more fashion and pop culture magazines than all other reading material
-cares more about her appearance than what she does at work

>>35 , i don't really agree with the first one, and the remaining rest is usually teenage girl pattern. I haven't met a girl in her 20s that does any of that.

I would say, I really appreciate a person who has a passion in their life , even if they fail to achieve it. don't you think that they are too many people who don't like anything accept socializing, or maybe I just don't know them ...
