Does anyone have any stories about alcohol and it helping/screwing their love lives?
I'm curious as to other peoples' stories - until recently, alcohol brought out the worst in the people I date (I don't drink myself). The person I'm with now is a lot better with it... just emotional, not angry or overjealous.
What's the general belief? Things said during a buzz are the truth, a subconscious expression? Or imbibed angst?
Rather all of the above. Alcohol simply removes certain self-imposed limitations and amplifies emotions (as well as scarring the living and shrinking the brain, among other things).
When someone says something while drunk, you can rest assured that, at least on some level, they believe what they are saying.

Depends. If I was all lusty after some dude, and he got drunk and started coming onto me, I'd likely go for it.
But if it was someone I wanted an actual relationship with, then no.

When I am boozed up I become mean, not in a malicious way but mean in an honest way. I'll say what is really on my mind and of course I am laughing like a banshee when I say it. Like if I think you are a bastard, I'll tell you if I'm drunk and then laugh at the shocked look on your face and that offends people so I can't say the booze helps me or makes me more affectionate.
Well, some guys who are used to seeing the demure and meek side all the time think it is hilarious and pay me affectionate attention, so it isn't all bad. It makes me wonder if verbal abuse is what gets their rocks off.
