Any tips/advice for prom? (6)

I've been with my gf for a couple months now and in a few weeks we're going to prom but I'm really confused and worried about it. We're both the same age but I go to a different school. We'll be going to her school's prom but I don't have any friends that go there. A couple people know me still from when I used to attend there but that's about it. I'm a shy guy and the thing that bothers me the most is that there'll probably be dancing, I don't think I can deal with that well. Here are a couple of my questions:
When she goes off with her friends for whatever reason and I'm alone, what should I do? I guess mingle with the people that might remember me, any help for that?
Would she be mad with me not dancing? I'd be fine with slow dances (once I find out how) but not anything else.
What should I expect during the prom? I know we'll find our seats and take pictures, but if most of it is dancing…
Do I bring my wallet, cell, or keys and stuff them in the breast pocket or what?
Any other help like how to improve my appearance or make sure she has a good time would be greatly appreciated.

Ask your gf to introduce you to her friends over the next weeks, so that by the prom's day you're familiar with them.

Use the time you have left to learn some basic dance steps. Ask your gf or someone who knows how to dance. Make it a fun time spent with your gf.

For the rest ask your friends/parents/siblings/whatever,...

Good luck and enjoy it!

Alright but learn some of this as well:

You can learn a lot of dancing from this website (have fun at prom, mines in 1/2 years (cant remember if we have one in our junior year))

I don't think I'll need to be able to break dance, but I should at least not just stand there. ;o
I wanna make sure she has fun because she's the one who asked me to go with her.

Look, learn popping ie. arm wave, body wave, locking, krumpin and put it all together. You dont have to get on the ground. Although I could work you through that as well.

coin drop->six step->handglide->windmill->four step->adding steps->butt spin->pose

Trust me, thats guaranteed majik!

>>5 He's IN Fucking High School. The guy doesn't need to learn to bboy or breakdance, he simply needs to loosen up.

Therefore, OP, you should get some really dorky item to wear to make you feel uncomfortable. Get used to said item and learn to turn the attention that you'll get for it into a good thing. (Ie, no negative comments, use it as a conversation device, etc.) When you feel better about wearing something goofy/being goofy, you won't have to worry about how your "dancing" is. Just have fun. It'll fit with your image.
