Talking with girls (14)

I just had such a great though short conversation with a girl. A few days ago I saw a girl in the city that really looked like her, so I said "you've got a sister, right?" and she reacted extremely nice to that.

It made me really happy, which made me sad because I realized just how bad I usually am with talking to girls.

Well I guess you've found a great conversation opener. Don't hesitate to use it again :)

It seems like there's a bunch of anxiety built up out of nothing for some guys that have trouble talking to girls. I seem to come off as too blunt/sarcastic to female acquaintances... it's hard for me, too.

Actually, for most of the guys out there.

I find it hard just starting a conversation. Things seem to be able to move along alright after that (depending on the situation) but starting a conversation is difficult. Especially because a lot of people, out in public at least, seem far less likely to even realize someone just tried to strike up a conversation with them. And Ipods. Everyone with their Ipods...

Starting a conversation is the absolute hardest part for me. But you can start a conversation about anything, really, as long as you're confident enough to converse afterwards.

One time I started a convo about a guy's leg cast because I thought he was cute...XD (It was really lame - no pun intended!- like, "I like your cast...") Now it's 4 years later and his best friend (whom he introduced me to) is one of my best friends.

The problem I encounter with starting a conversation is that I have the idea that I'm telegraphing my intentions too loudly by doing so. (Hm, she's cute. Find a way to initiate conversation!) "Hey, is that ____________ you're reading? I've meant to look at that... is it any good?" -> trans. "Hey, you're cute and I'm trying to find a way to initiate conversation with you."

Like maybe women assume the only reason a guy would strike up a random conversation is that he's trying to hit on them. Pretty unfair assumption, I know.

Yeah, umh... I'm not sure if it's really unfair actually :p

Would you go talk to an uncute stranger just because you think she's "interesting"/whatever...?
