Hi there

ehmmm... I'm a 18 year old girl and I met this boy (let's call him "J") around 4 months ago, I liked how he looked and his personality, but now he has a girlfriend (he's 23 years old and she's 14 years old) but she's a bitch, she's way too young for him and he hates the music she listen to (he's musician) I think he's with her because she's japanese...

yesterday we were on a chat (me, J, that bitch and a few others) I though they were about to break because she had a pop/punk/emo singer on her MSN avatar, he was totally mad because of that, and then she started insulting J's favourite vocalist, they discussed a little more and then they both were quiet... I asked him if he was upset, and he was...

do you think they will last?

sorry for my english, it's not my mother language

I don't think so.

And for the sake of their well-being, I hope they don't last.

Are you sure he's 23 and not 13?

for one thing, what music you like is a stupid thing to fight over- my guy and i have COMPLETELY different tastes in music (me: loud, violent, pounding, him: r&b, whiny british bands), and we've been together like forever.

the main thing- age-gap romances are fun and cool and all- but that is a freaking significant set of years between those two.

you become a completely different person from 14 to 18, and change again from 18- 21, and after 21? your outlook on life has become cemented in adulthood. a 14 year old has no reason to be with a 24 year old, they are in different worlds. besides, it's generally frowned upon and freaking illegal to boot.

besides, if it's for real, it can wait until she is older.

Now, I'm 18 and my boyfriend is 27; but even I think a 14 year old is way too young for a 23 year old. (And yes I'm aware it's the same year gap, but the maturity gap is much, much bigger between the 14 year old and the 23 year old.)

You call him a boy but he's 5 years older than you and well into adulthood.

Maybe he likes women who know their place.

well, you could get him in jail for being with a minor, but lets set that aside. Let them do their own thing. They might be the type that bond by fighting. But if music is that important then it might fall apart on it's own. Get out some popcorn and watch the show.
