talking to girls (4)

I oft find girls looking at me longingly or talking to me out of nowhere in class. I get their signals clearly. Unfortunately there's only one problem: I'm really fucking shy.

I always wonder about screwing up bout what to say to them or looking at them, freeze up and look like a fool, so I usually don't say anything to them. Not only do I feel like an asshole in ignoring them, I also wonder what could have been.

So uh, what should I do? What should I talk about without making an ass out of myself? Never really been the social type so what are decent topics for conversation? I'm not even looking to get a girlfriend right now, just having new friends and corking up this hole of regret will suffice in itself.

Stop drawing winking faces on your fingers. That's what you should do.

Basic rules of social-fu:

  • find out what the other person's interests are.
  • encourage her to speak about them by showing some interest in them.
  • do tell the other person your own opinions, so that she feels that it's an exchange and not a one-sided interrogation. But clearly concentrate more on listening to the other person. If she shares something with you, she will feel connected to you.

This works better if you select those interests that also interest you, otherwise you'll come across as an hypocrite,...

So, depending on your interests, ask them what movies/series/music/sports/books/games/shops/etc do they like, and follow up on anything you find at least moderately interesting.
