GiTS 2: Man Machine Interface (7)

I was just wondering is it just me or this manga one big pile of techno babble to the point where the story is lost? I mean there is so much techno babble that you can't even get through what the storyline is about.

At least the first GiTS manga even with the techno babble the reader can easily follow through what the story is about. I am at Chapter 6 of GiTS2 and I still can't get what the heck is the story is about.

I'm a big fan of Shirow's other works, but so far I didn't see the story OR the technobabble through the raging torrent of T&A

fixed to be applied to Orion

Shirow just doesn't do "stories" with "plots" and "archs" and whatever. He builds up little universes with lots of eye candy, adventures and love for the detail - and he's pretty damn good at it. But you cannot really expect anything else or more here.

I'll admit that GiTS2 is a little bit over the top with the confusion, even for his standards.

Yeah, GitS 2 made me think of Orion, too. But Orion was sort of enjoyable when you started thinking of it as an eastern-mysticism Star Trek, and GitS 2 sure is pretty. But I sure missed the subtle character interactions of some of his other works, like Appleseed.

i'm very curious about the 'gits 1.5' thing though

apparently it fills some of the narrative gaps of gits2, 'sides it's more shirow stuff, meaning it should be translated

ps. i found scans of this a while ago so if anyone wants to translate immensely long, convoluted spyspeak conversations let me know

its true that man machine interface is confusing.
ive read it a bunch of time but as you read it more and more, it seems to makes sense more and more.
As upset as i am over the departure of section 9 from the story line it does make for intresting reading.

I totally agree, when I read it first I was totally confused what the fuck the characters were talking about and why the "story" was supposed to be. He sure has the habit to do such manga.
