Here we discuss our favourite mash-ups.
I've recently been incredibly amused by http://www.thefreelancehairdresser.co.uk/, especially marshall's been snookered and bring the bean bag.
I don't follow the mash-up scene very much, I find the majority to be rather bland and generic "Mix song A with song B" and not worth checking out.
However, I really love "extreme" mash-ups (if you could call it that, or anything), in example by artists such as Donna Summer (aka Jason Forrest) [ http://m.0x0021.org/?artist=Jason+Forrest ], Girl Talk [ http://m.0x0021.org/?artist=Girl+Talk ], Shitmat [ http://m.0x0021.org/?artist=Shitmat ], etc.
Incidentially, Donna Summer has a show on WFMU: http://www.wfmu.org/. There can never be too much WFMU pimping.
Does the "Grey Album" count?
(This is the first I've heard of the mash-up scene)

Yeah, I figured you'd know about his show, having said you listened to the WFMU stream in that other thread.
I don't think I've ever actually heard it though. I should tune in sometime though, he has awesome setlists.
Advanced D & D rocks. If you have the time, be sure to also listen to Diane's Kamikaze Fun Machine which airs just before ADD and is pretty similiar.
Bump for my favorite mash-ups:

Does Negativland count as mash-up? At least some of their stuff
?
Last time i checked i think the good/bad mashup ratio was something like 1/1000 so i've kinda given up on it
the classics are still good though, especially the 'genie in a bottle'/'hard to explain' thing by soulwax

two months until this thread's birthday!
wow, i had no idea 4-ch was this old.
has music always been this stale?
ps. New Order & Chemical Brothers - New Order - Here To Stay (Felix Da Housecat Remix) ok, so this is a pretty good mashup/remix thing but then again, anything with felix da housecat on it is good by default
Song-A-VERSUS-Song-B bootlegs reached their logical conclusion with "Milkshake Music" about three years ago (or something), which cannot ever be bettered. The entire scene is thus rendered irrelevant.
If you like things that are really, properly mashed up beyond all recognition, then OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK ROBOCHRIST:
I don't think the guy has ever played outside a 30 mile radius of Leeds. I saw him warm up for Polysics a while ago, and he was about the most amazing thing ever.
Ten points to the man who mentioned Shitmat and Jason Forrest upthread. There's a video on the net for JF's "War Photographer" which is utterly mighty, containing as it does an actual viking longship OF ROCK which transforms into a walking, bearded viking GIANT ROBOT. OF ROCK. Yeah.
Around here (SF) mashups are usually mentioned when talking about Pary Ben
his "Boulevard of Broken Songs" is popular.
