Anyone knows any good mp3 editor which can edit mp3s without the need to recode? Preferrably one with Cool Edit-like interface (when you can actually see and zoom in/out the waveform), because I need to do some damn precise editing.
iirc mp3 has to be transcoded into another format so that it can actually be edited. And if you are working on VBR mp3's you can kiss that precise editing goodbye anyway, because of VBR in a lossy format, the accurate timing you get from them is lost.
Maybe you'll find something useful here: http://4-ch.net/tech/kareha.pl/1108259758
You can cut and add frames to the mp3 stream, but that's probably not what you want.
If that IS what you want, I've found mp3DirectCut useful: http://www.mpesch3.de/
Sorry for a very late answer! orz
mp3DirectCut seems like a right tool for my needs. I'll try it out.
Thanks for the suggestions, guys!
Answering 2 years late! Audacity can edit MP3s if you get LAME.
