i just bought a cd and tried to play it on my computer... according to http://cp.sonybmg.com/xcp/ i have to install their spyware to listen to the cd on my computer.

Try ripping it, most CD rippers I've used don't even blink at these "copy protection" schemes

Copy protection on CDs is a great way to make people use MP3s instead, legal or not.
