Please tell me what albums one must own in order to be a hip hop fan. I've recently got into hip hop, I really like Nas and the underground rapper Cage.
Why not just listen to what you enjoy listening to?
>>2 do you think we're still in the 90's son? Simply being happy isn't enough anymore, you gotta have the cred.
but then again being happy rocks. Must owns are De la soul - 3 feet high and rising, Digable Planets - Reachin' (A New Refutation Of Time And Space), Digable Planets - Blowout Comb, Camp Lo - Uptown Saturday Night
and some more i can't remember now
tupac ftw~
also, if you feel adventurous enough to dabble in the squalid fields of asian hip-hop, may i recommend m-flo? they're kinda iinteresting
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE BABY!
holy shit! >>3 has the exact same tastes in hip hop as me... Digable Planets, De La Soul, and Camp Lo, he's right, can't go wrong with them (as long as you stick to Camp Lo's first album).

no it's not, it's just malnourished and underfed
Nas' Illmatic is a must for any Hip Hop listener.
He's my personal favorite.
Everyone should really listen to at least one Immortal Technique song, preferably Dace With The Devil.
I listen to Jay-Z, Biggie, 2pac, Rakim, Common, Kanye West, 50 Cent, The Game, Eminem and many more.
Saul Williams and Aesop Rock are the only two artists I listen to that might be termed Hip Hop. Definitely check Saul Williams.
