So my friends told me ive been missing out on what they call the greatest opera over, "don giovanni". So is don giovanni the greatest opera ever or is it merely great? Like is it worth sitting through the entire opera, or just skip to the juicy parts? (not watching it live, gonna watch a recording)

If you watch it, watch it from beginning to end. Even if some parts are weaker, an opera is really something that was designed to have a rythm and you won't enjoy the "most awesome parts" if you don't have the rest inbetween.

That said, don giovanni is good, but I'm not sure it's the greatest ever.

The Nibelungs Saga, is far superior as far as operas go, also, Prince Igor.
