I need to know if anything like drum and bass with metal growling has ever been done before

If it's not gained publicity, there's a good reason.

In my experience, publicity != quality.

What I meant by publicity would be publicity among people who like DnB and Metal - not necessarily what's in the charts or whatever.

Generally from the people I know who listen to metal, it wouldn't suprise me if somebody has already done metal elements over DnB. Most of my metal friends also love DnB, I suppose because they both have fast, powerful beats etc.

It has been done tons of times before by many artists who just do what sounds good to them instead of thinking in genres.

Also, please don't invent any more subgenre of music. Thanks.
