I did'nt know if i was better to post it in music or personal issues but here:
I'm the sorta guy that has always been a metalhead since my 13 years old and i listened to a lot of things but i never stopped my evolution in the music so i always get bored of things i listen too much. Lately (maybe a year) ive been watching a lot of animes and live and now i listen some Jpop and anime songs and my friends think im weird ('cause i usually listened to Satanic black and death metal)
Am I weird ?
Am I alone ?
answer plox :P (BTW im the frontman of a starting black metal band)
I don't see how listening to J-Pop is weird. I don't personally listen to it myself. However, some of the music I listen to (some of which are pretty well known) were referred to as "weird music" by my friends. I remember one day I was playing Derek and the Dominos' "Layla" (written by Eric Clapton and known as one of the greatest love songs ever) in my car, and my friend who was riding with me called it "weird". So, to my friends, blues is "weird", 80's punk is "weird", neo-classical metal is "weird" (except Ozzy Osbourne), and obscure Jimi Hendrix tunes are "weird". I think the basic idea is that anything that's not mainstream and up-to-date can be considered "weird" by young people like ourselves.
Oh no, you're not alone. Lots of people who watch a lot of anime listen to the songs from them, and any Jpop or Jrock they can get their hands on. I do, as does almost ever single one of my friends. The rest of our musical tastes vary from extreme metalhead to 40's swing to modern pop.
Yeah, that's weird. You have varied musical taste? Hand in your Satan card now!
Seriously, as an aspiring musician it'd be weird if you didn't occasionally find new stuff interesting. And Jpop/anime tunes is music too. (albeit with a possibly "weird" subculture surrounding it)
You are not weird. Every time a Jpop song is sung a baby is sacrificed to the devil. So it totally fits with the satanic crap.
Confining yourself to one genre will stifle you as a musician. I think it'd be sad if being called weird were enough to stop you from enjoying music.

Think about it: you are listening to satanic black and death metal. You ARE weird in the first place. No need to worry about being it a bit more.
Hm...I wonder why Satanic things are always sounds cool and nice things sounds boring....
OP isn't original at all, not to be degrading, but whenever I go to see Japanese artist, there always seem to be a lot of metalheads. They often listen to J-pop and watch anime too, so it seems to be a somewhat natural proces. I too was a metalhead, well somewhat, never liked "true" metal like Ozzy, et al., and I started listening Japanese music too. It's most likely that because of being a metalhead, who always seem to be more open to other genres, that you gave this a try.

You such an interesting person...
Hey guys I listen to metal and j-pop and classical music and old-school hip-hop and house and glam rock and jazz and to other stuff, including shit so out there that I won't even attempt to classify it.
I didn't came here to flaunt my incredible weirdness, I just thought you might like to know about my bizarre inclination to enjoy various things that do not resemble each other.
nice ego stroking OP.
> Am I weird ?
Who cares?
I guess it's possible to look at this through a psychological perspective.
Although we might not consider metal "unique" and "foreign" today, it might've been one of the reasons we started to listen to metal.
This could either lead you to like other "foreign" musical genres such as Jrock, but it might also be since you've been encouraged to like weird, strange, weird or foreign things.

Who would think about looking at taste through a psychological perspective, anyway?
Don't worry, it's natural for fatties to enjoy metal /and/ anime.
Get over yourself.
listening to gerogerigegege makes you weird.
Tokyo anal dynamite ftw!
