So the other day I bought Alpocalypse on iTunes, and while I did enjoy songs such as "Skipper Dan" and the "Polka Face" medley, I can't help feeling slightly disappointed that once again, Al's new album has failed to live up to the greatness of Running with Scissors, released in 1998 if I am not mistaken. I wonder why this is so. I imagine my dissatisfaction with the current mainstream music he parodies plays no small part in my assessment, but hasn't the objective quality of his music declined as well?
I've not listened to the whole album, but the tracks I've heard I did kinda like, but you're right not as good as he has been. And the polka medley, I love all his other ones but I thought it was his worst one (I still like it), probably because I hardly knew any of the songs from not listening to the radio, which led me to feel a bit sad when I saw how shit all the songs are. I felt they didn't really give Al much space to make them good because they were so bland to begin with
