"South Korea and China came in second and third place, respectively, but together they sent just half as much spam as the United States."

... and a lot of people are bagging Microsoft for a lot of the security they have put into SP2.... it was all put it to reduce those newbie mom's n dad's on fast-as-slippery-shit cable and DSL lines from being infected with stupid trojans and rooter kits.
.. well they have at least tried.
I have a vision... :)
Do-gooders bots zooming around sniffing for potential zombie computers and installing firewalls on them.
Or better, doing a complete cleanup of the zombie, removing viruses/trojans/worms first, then installing a firewall afterwards.
"This computer was unzombified by the Fairy01256.f bot. Have a nice, clean day!"
Seems like it'll always be easier to vandalize than to prevent vandalism. Quite disheartening, really.
I believe that Vandalism appears only where Ownership/Responsibility is lacking.
To take a example, I noticed that the places that get graffiti-ed are nobody-owns-it locations. Like gov properties or abandonned houses. The graffiti remain there for months or years.
I once cleaned a wall full of graffiti which was getting new scribbles almost every day. After it was cleaned, there were no more new graffiti.
