"Listening to AM or FM radio suddenly seems old-fashioned now that we have the ear-pleasing alternative of commercial-free XM and Sirius satellite radio. At CES, broadcasters made a dramatic move to reclaim the technology high ground with a digital format called HD Radio.
The nation's largest broadcast groups pledged to accelerate their so-far sluggish conversion to digital radio, which elevates both AM and FM to near-CD-quality, by converting 2,500 stations within four years. "
... and just where does that leave consumers who have spent many dollars on analog radio setups? be that portable, or hifi. Technology think tanks want the world to move to IPv6, to digital TV, to digital/HD Radio, to upgrade all of our phones to 3G. Thats nice. But somoene has to purchase the new infrastructure to support consumers to use these new technologies.
I'd be happy with two things:
Those were the two main reasons I stopped listening to radio. Not because of poor audio quality. Oh wow, now I'll be able to listen to shitty music and advertisements in near-CD-quality sound! I can't wait!
Thank god for things like iPod.
