Does it really surprise anyone? With two major wars, several disaster recovery efforts (including reconstruction of Iraq), and several new beaureucratic federal departments going on all at once (while the wealthy continue getting tax cuts), it's no wonder why the government is targeting so many different public programs and borrowing large amounts from other nations.

The ironic part is that the traditional Republican platform has always been against big spending, but every time the party rises to power in Congress and the White House, the national budget starts hemorrhaging money.
