"What was once believed to be a tomb of the Pharaohs, is now said to be nothing more than an embalmer's workshop.
Archaeologists from the University of Memphis unearthed the chamber in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, and believe it to date back to the 18th Pharaonic Dynasty, which ruled between 1539 BCE to 1292 BCE.
Previously, Zahi Hawass, Egypt's head of antiquities, said the find, which contained seven wooden coffins and numerous sealed jars, was that of "royals or nobles" which was moved from the "original graves to protect them from grave robbers."
However, now Hawass says, "This... is not a tomb for nobles or relatives of a king, as had been thought upon its discovery, but rather a room for mummification.""
Hawass...lying to puff up his reputation and career? Unpossible!
