167 kilometers from the city of Tuxpan, in the state of Veracruz, a 5.2. richter tremor was detected in the Gulf of Mexico, around 2:10 PM. The tremor was strong enough to shake 2 mexican states: Tamaulipas and Veracruz. The origin of this event has not been yet identified.
Most importantly, there are no tectonic plates in collision in the Gulf of Mexico; therefore this tremor was extremely rare.
I live in the capital city of the state of Veracruz, roughly 150 kilometers south from Tuxpan. The tremor was strong enough to rock my desk.
I bet this caused gas prices to rise again.
