Police arrested a man who wrote a message threatening to kill an unidentified elementary school girl on popular Internet bulletin board "2 Channel," police said Monday.

Tsutomu Fukuda, 23, unemployed with no fixed address, was arrested and sent to prosecutors on suspicion of threatening all of the about 165,000 elementary school girls in the prefecture, police said.

Police quoted him as saying, "I wrote the message because the reactions are interesting."

According to police, Fukuda posted the threatening message at around 7 a.m. on Feb. 1 through his mobile phone. The message read, "I will kill an elementary school girl in Chiba (Prefecture) at 3 p.m. on Feb. 15."(IHT/Asahi: February 19,2008)
