OJ and MJ step aside! It's time for the latest US media circus!
This time there are two cable networks dedicated to 'round the clock coverage of one criminal trial: TruTV by day, CNN Headline News by night. In the center ring is 25 year-old Casey Anthony, accused of murdering her 2 year-old daughter at some point between 15 June and 15 July 2008. No one knows quite when it happened since she didn't even bother to report the girl's disappearance for a whole month and spent the time while the girl was missing dancing and partying with friends. After weaving elaborate lies involving a fictitious nanny named Zanny we now have accusations of molestation in the opening arguments!
Welcome to the trial of the century, folks! (Well, trial of the century so far; there are 89 years left in this century)
Casey Anthony won't testify in her own defense. Stayed up late for it and everything. What the hell.
So far we've learned that Casey Anthony's car, in her sole possession for the weeks following her daughter's disappearance, had the smell of a rotting corpse (or perhaps a pile of fatty ground beef as the defense contends, which really only raises more questions) and a hair in it consistent with a decaying body. While the defense says the deceased drowned in the pool, the mother practically celebrated in the aftermath.
The defense brought on several witnesses that managed to strengthen the prosecution and waste the jury's time. It's not looking good for poor Casey...
Wow. Not Guilty. The only guilty verdicts returned were for lying to the police which are misdemeanors. She may get anywhere between time served and one year.
Florida where 12th trimester abortions are legal!
Ms. Anthony has been out of the spotlight completely since her release which is probably a good thing given all the death threats. Now she wants $1.5 to tell her side of the story. Given her history, more likely she'll tell another fabulous lie. In fact the odds that she'll provide a paranormal explanation for her daughter's death are surprisingly low!
Casey Anthony would do well to sell out soon or she'll be long forgotten if she continues to sit atop a too-high asking price. Chances are the mainstream press won't pay-to-play with the media devil. Even tabloids will be reluctant soon. The sad spiral towards disaster she so well deserves begins right now...
