Hello all, this is my first post at 4-ch.
I was wondering if there were any good ways to try to find a person in Japan.
You see, in 2004, I met a very good friend who lived in Hokkaidou and even wrote to each other. However, her e-mail address went down and I lost contact with her and I have reason to believe that her physical address is no longer available either.
Only knowing her general location and name, I've tried googling several different ways and even used Japanese search engines. Of all the things, only two links have shown up - one to her records in track and field in High school (!) and the other is to some sports club she helped out in 北海道教育大学岩見沢校. I tried e-mailing the club site, but it didn't work either.
Before anyone asks, I'm not trying to stalk anyone nor is this a romantic venture. Just need to bring closure to some things...

The possibility that she was abducted by North K. agents cannot be denied
as well as a lot of Japanese missing person..
If it is so, it is useless to expect anything for the Japanese Government.
Cowardly Government doesn't use the Self Defense Forces for the abductee

Asking at a school? As a 外人? Good luck, hate to be cynical but the chances of a cop misusing his/her power to punish us アメリカ人 are not worth the risk. Foreigners at Japanese schools....thinks about it.
As much as it pains me to say, I agree that this is the most likely one. Hard to admit for me I guess (It just seemed to come rather suddenly after a year on-and-off of correspondence). Thank you for being blunt but understanding.
However, North Korean agents does make for excellent dark comedy. =P
