Saw this today on one website:

and what do they mean by abusing it? Im learning japanese at home and i always use it with my family :D.
Yeah, what do you mean by abusing it exactly? You mean mispronunciation or over-use of the word or something? o_O
So, >>1 abuse the phrase "abuse".
> You mean mispronunciation or over-use of the word or something?

OP is an angry weeaboo.

I just happen to appreciate good spelling, and I'm sure the OP is the same.

IMO the way 'abuse' is used here is ambiguous. I wouldn't even call it abuse in this case. Generally abuse = mistreatment (and usually in a harmful way).
Anyway, the essence of the meaning is still the same regardless of their misspelling. So, I wouldn't say this is people abusing the phrase, but rather the misspelling of ありがとうございます in English (only by some people though). =/ Just in my opinion.
It wouldn't hurt them to at least google the correct spelling, though... I can understand the OP's sentiments. It'd be as irritating as English speakers seeing misspelt English words/phrases, I'm sure.
>'arygato gozaymus'
...orz indeed.
That'd sound more like アライガト ゴゼイマス、、、o_O
