Life of nothing (38)

I'm not suicidal or depressed. Some of my friends with lives on or about the same level as mine are all emo and suicidal. I'm genuinely happy. It's just I do nothing and have nothing to look forward to in life. I'm going back to school in January but even then it's not for anything. I've finished my basic courses and have nothing in mind I'm wanting to do. It's just I'd rather be in school going nowhere then bored all day going nowhere.

I have no goals, no girlfriend, no desire for going through all that relationship crap just to get dumped again anyway. For the 900th time I'm here at work doing nothing and I see no future for myself. Nothing.

Perhaps with meditation you will reach further enlightenment.

I see what you mean. Its the same for me. I tried >>2 s advice. It doesn't work for me. How can you say you aren't depressed? it makes me depressed thinking I have no future and life has no meaning for me and in the streets I see lots people having FUN. Well it REALLY makes me depressed.OR maybe you are already enlightened with NO desires? :-X

Perhaps with drugs you will reach further enlightenment.

Try Salvia. It's legal, and I've been meaning to try it.

Write the great American novel.

What basic courses did you complete?

And how old are you?

I have an associates degree. Currently I manage a bookstore. Basically my days are filled with old school video games (think Diablo II and Shogun Total War) watching loads of anime, and watching the History Channel.

I could write AN American novel but it wouldn't be very good.

I'm too old.

I don't honestly know why I'm happy other then I can't see what's to be depressed about. Two of my friends have attempted suicide in the last year over sappy emo stuff like, oh the boy I love doesn't like me. I learned to not care. Though it saves me from being depressed I now lack the motivation to go out and do anything and I'm bothered by my lack of goals and purpose.

Anyone break out of such a cycle?

Well go out there and DO something. Anything. What it seems like is that you have no friends and lack a desire to make friends. You can decide to make your life exciting, or you can decide to just sit there and wait for like death and old age to come on you. It's really all up to you. So if you're sick of your routinely life, then DO something. Go to a bar, pick up a girl. Even if she rejects you, at least you've learned something. Call up a friend from high school. Take a vacation and go scuba diving. Walk around downtown and check things out. There's so much you can do. You're just too lazy to.

Supposedly, it's pretty powerful stuff. I'd do some extensive reading on Erowid before I would try it.

well, it's powerful when the druggies want it to be.

Chewing it or making a tea out of it is supposed to be rather mild though. That's how the Native Americans used it for soul searching, and that's how I was planning to try it.

You seem to be taking a hedonistic view of your life, only judging it by the amount of pleasure it provides. If you are only bothered because other people have higher goals in life, ignore them (be yourself, etc.) If your bothered by a personal feeling that something is missing in your life, try reading some philosophy (you did say you managed a book store.)

I feel the same way most of the time, but when I go outside and see couples and think that could have been me snuggling next to that cute girl I feel like shit. So I just don't go outside.

i find life so boring and the same thing happens everyday..... sometimes i just feel like disappearing cos bringing so much trouble to people around me. sometimes i think its better if i dont even exist in this world

Yeah, I've thought that a change of venues might be helpful. Not leaving the whole world say, but leaving my current one. My friend has asked me to go teach English in Japan. He's leaving in May. Not exactly what I'm looking for but a world apart may be good for the soul.

I'm trying to read philosophy as suggested by >>11. Just got through one of Plato's 5 dialogues. He's a bit less morose then Nietzsche from what I hear. We'll see how things go. Thanks for the suggestions.

Travel, go backpacking around europe. Spend a year in costa rica or australia. After that, you'll know what to do.

i found myself feeling like nothing was going on so i decided to make something out of nothing. I make videos (art, music, etc) and post them on youtube. it's great to share what you make, and it makes me feel like i'm doing something for myself that's worthwhile. www.youtube.com/jdrw5

I am in similar situation.
Not sad, but, general apathy for life. No motivation to do anything. Dont really have suicidal thoughts either, but the idea of dying doesnt bother me.
dunno what's wrong.
