I'm not like the average hikikomori NEET here, but I have my own problems. Right now I'm in college training to be a highschool history teacher. I love learning, and I really want to be involved with the public education system.
But there's a problem: I'm a lolicon. I'm not into kindergarteners or anything, but I am quite attractived to post-pubescent girls, around the ages of 13 and up. I have a huge loli doujinshi collection, and I'm even working on a comic of my own that features some lolicon themes. In today's witch-hunt oriented US society, I'm a bit scared that I'd get fired from my teaching position. It feels painful to have to deny my opinions and beliefs to the world...I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I'd even work for some sort of pro-pedo advocacy group, because I'm studying political science right now. But I don't want to lose my opportunity to be a teacher. I feel trapped. What should I do?
Move to Spain. \o/

^-- pedomap!
Red and yellow are bad.
Green is okay
Blue is where YOU SHOULD LIVE!
I recommend Yemen, with it's record-setting age of consent of.. 9. :)
What you should do is learn self-restraint and seperate professional life from personal life. It is bad to get involved with co-workers and students are just the same except the consequences are even worse.
>>3 Lol, I just realized you can legally rape a minor in Iran, all you need is her father's signed permission, and she can't refuse the marriage, and then you hit the jackpot.
>>1 if you are going to touch little girls where you work, then do yourself and them a favor and don't get the job. Pdeo is morally corrupt, you can't justify it to anyone in their right mind.
OP here.

Uh, I never intend to do anything like that. It's just, even if I do my best to keep that personal side of me seperate from my work, if one little blog comment or something gets to a teacher, they can go to the PTA and get me fired. Not for doing anything illegal or molesting a student, but just because the US is currently in a pedo-witchhunt mood, and if you display even the slightest inclination, you lose all your rights as a person/employee and get treated like shit.

It's funny, I was debating whether to learn Spanish or Japanese today, leaning towards Spanish. Maybe I'll go all ex-patriate.
Op...
Do you do anything openly so that people around might consider you a lolicon?
Why don't you call yourself a paedophile? What's with this Japanese language thing >:/
>>9
Actually "pedophile" (or "ae" if you prefer...) would be inaccurate too, as it originally means "attracted to young boys", not children
>>9>>10
Lolicon also derives from the latin or spanish word Lolita so i think its spanish.
I used to be a 'lolicon' too for afew years.. i knew i had a problem because i'd think about my baby sister every now adn then.. i went to see someone to help me out and now im free from it :D
Im doing childcare courses and such to help out abused children now, my liking for children has totally changed for the better. Im gonna help fix lives some day.

Reference or it never happened.
Even if it did (here comes the damage control!) original meaning is not relevant here. It is what it is now.
Yes, I do prefer the ae spelling and the PEE DOH FILE pronunciation (Britfag here hi)
I do appreciate that 'lolicon' is useful in that it specifically labels attraction to little girls. But... it sounds silly :(

Lolita isn't a Spanish word. It comes from Vladimir Nabokov's novel, Lolita, in which it is the nickname the paedophile gives to the little girl. Education yo'self a book ;D
Ok now, etymology time.
"Lolita" is a Spanish word. Lolita is a "pet/nickname" form of the Spanish name "Dolores," aka "Dolores Haze" from the novel Lolita.
"Lolicon" is japanese portmanteu of the phrase "lolita complex."
"Pedophile" does not refer to only boys. It is just how it is usually used in the media. It comes from the greek "pedo" and "philos" and means, literally, "love of children." Medically, it means attraction to prebuscents, although it is often used to refer to those attracted to legal minors.
Now, back on topic.
I second >>8 , what would you do that lets people know your a lolicon fan?
If you collect CP, i would personally say no.

I stand corrected.
Anyway, solution to (all) problems: stay anonymous.

also, pedophilia is commonly confused (and used as a US colloquialism) for ephebophilia, the attraction to pubescent adolescents.
in other words, individuals between the ages of roughly 12 and 18 years of age are considered to be pubescent adolescents, individuals younger than 12 are prepubescent children, and those older than 18 are sexually mature adults.
some individuals enter puberty after the age of 12 and are mature before 18 - 12 and 18 are generally the most extreme ages.
Hmm...I say its too risky.
You might not be an ephebophile at all. Liking to look at pictures of children (drawn or otherwise) does not really mean that you like the real thing. I've heard of people who thought they were gay until confronted with an actual gay situations and they realize that that is not really what they were.
I think you should be ok, so long as you keep that stuff private.
I think as a citizen you have a right to consume whatever literature/art you want and to fantasize about whatever. So long as you don't hurt/embarass others or it affects your ability to teach properly, or you tell anyone about it, you should be fine.
You should probably not join, or found a 'pro-pedo' advocacy group, on the other hand, if you're afraid of losing your job and/or social standing. That's the cost of political advocacy, I'm afraid.
I guess you'll have to enjoy the wonderful Japanese concepts of public and private self, and find a way for them to cohabit peacefully and quietly.
