Identifying with Asians: I must be an EGG (25)

Apparently I've developed a lifestyle, where I'm white but I find myself identifying with Asian males.

My online activity consists of reading and posting info on the Asian-American experience-- criticizing advertisements on TV that are sterotypical (Asians portrayed as martial artists all the time, Asian males not having any major roles in film, etc).

I want to live in Singapore, amid its multi-lingual culture groups. I love Singlish, and how there are so many cultures (Indian, Malaysian/Muslim, Chinese) living so close without assimilating per se.

But, any advice on how to be self-confident, even though I seem to be longing after a culture that isn't mine?

Hatch first.

I think you're fine.

You can eventually stop making such a big deal out of race when you've realized how trivial it all is. There certainly is a lot of bigotry, ignorance, and prejudice out there. But you shouldn't let that stuff get to you. Singapore is one of the most cosmopolitan places in the world. If you can't find a place for yourself there, then where?

Of course, moving to Singapore because of some arbitrary perception of race or ethnicity, seems very stupid to me.
Get your head out of your ass already. You're a human aren't you?

What the fuck do you need race for?

i don't think that's a problem necessarily.

Uhhh...most real Asian-American males don't spend their entire time talking about that kind of stuff so just do what they do and life your life normally, but show your prowess when the subject actually comes up.

let me quote the great Hawaiian singer; Israel Kamakawiwo'ole or, Bruddah IZ.
"Dont matter what color you; yellow, pink, orange, purple, maroon. One race brah, the human."

Yeah, I think Hong Kong is cooler. Singapore's just like a giant business center with golf courses around it, right?

I think that would make you an omelette.

Hong Kong is not as great as everyone makes it out to be. I admit that 80% of the people there are good to look at, but the time and effort they put into it..jeez. Plus their Disneyland is such a bubble.

Have you ever actually been to Singapore? Dangerously uptight ball of racial tension. Not fun. You'd be better off moving to Macau.

I've never heard the term either, but I guess you're supposed to think "white on the outside, yellow on the inside".

Or not. shrug

Crap. Singapore is a cool place. Good shopping. Good food. Nice babes. Don't pout. Just go. You'll stop pining and have some fun.

I met a hot Singaporean boy. He keeps giving me conflicting signals and I can't get him out of my mind. Fuck.
