Trolling (22)

I've been thinking about it and being an asshole on the intrawebs makes me a better person irl. For instance, before I was an asshole I'd start fights with my friends, challenge my teachers for stupid reasons and my room was a mess. Now I'll be an honours student next year and I have awesome friends. I also enjoy conversations with my parents and I believe it is because I can be a hostile asshole on the intarwebs.

Do you feel the same way?

what do you think your funny by writing 'intrawebs' rather than internet?

HAHAHAHAHHAHA.... no

( ´∀`)Trolling has nothing to do with your social skills offline, it just makes you look like an asshole on the internet.

i kinda agree, but there is no need to troll anyway.

5 Name: Anonymous : 2007-09-24 21:53 ID:Heaven

i think you should gtfo

But I' serious, I find it like a way to release all the anger. Instead of yelling at people when something bothers me I try to look for a solution that is convenient for all parts involved, then I bottle up my rage and come to internet (>>2 happy now?) where I can target random unknown people.

Looks like I'm the only one who feels like this. I thought other people might see it the same way.

Sounds like you troll ironically. Then again, this isn't 4chan, so people here that troll take the piss.

As long as you don't bring your anger or frustration on people close to you, it's okay. Play with those demons in your own worlds and box them away when you go outside.

If anything all the constant trolling and reading chan sites has made me more of an asshole in real life. Whenever I take a break from these sites I'm normally a muhc better person.

In the real world I come off as being gruff and unfriendly but I actually would much rather give people a hug than be mean. This was so even before I got into the chan's.
Online I participate as both a troll and a serious contributor. Trolling appeals to my impish side and some boards just beg to be messed with, On the other I try to be as informative or at least as humorous as possible in threads about serious or epic lol things.

The Internet is a fantasy world where we can meet others. If you take it so seriously that the things that happen here actually affect your real life, then you should probably GTFO for your own mental health.

Agreed.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with using the internet to vent. People who get upset from trolling are generally the people who take themselves too seriously. When I didn't have the internet, I would punch and stab pillows to take out my anxiety. I actually release stress by -helping- people on the internet nowadays, but I can see it working the other way around.

I do too, I really dislike trolls. But I troll myself. I guess that makes me a hypocrite lol

In a way trolling has made me a better and angry person. Before I had the internet I was rather shy about expressing my oppinion. Then I ended up venting/telling it like it is on the interwheb and eventually I became an ass in real life. So what I'm trying to say is, it cured me of my shyness.

Being better and happy at other people's expense isn't a real cure; you're just passing on your misery to someone else.

Anger doesn't dissipate until you fix your problems.

It's not misery, it is just the bad side of who I am. The bad side that I don't want to share with people close to me who I care for. And I say it is a side of me because that's how I'd be without internet.

Everyone has a bad side, but not everyone acts like a jackass just because they can't get punched in the face for it.

One of the reasons I'm online is to have a good time with people from all walks of life and especially from all over the world.

Trolls can really spoil that fun. I've become inert towards it but people you are posting with get all pissed off by the Trolls and the whole nice interesting conversation is down the tube.

No its not right. In a bar you don't throw peanuts at people because you know one of them might get up and kick your ass. To do a similar thing online because you can get away with it is just cowardly.

Whenever I hear a Troll got his computer mauled by a hax0r's retaliation, I feel good about it. This doesn't nearly happen enough.

The only Trolls I like have blue skin and large tusks.
