Is it wrong that when I see the word Christian in an online dating ad I automatically think that it is someone that will shove their religion in my face?
I have nothing against Christians, Its just I have found that people that go out of their way to mention it have a tendency to be a little intolerant.
Your thinking is solid. People like that are closing their minds off, and limiting the chance for romance to happen.
Though I'm not the biggest fan of online dating sites, it seems the best ones are the ones for anyone and everyone to meet everyone else.
Did you know that there are also dating sites that cater to specific ethnicities? Shocking!
When I see it, i also worry they'll shove ther religion in my face. And they automatically seem less appealing to me once I know they're christian enough to announce it. Christianity is a real turn off for me.
Me too. But I suppose them putting it out there is the way for them to catch the person who does find that attractive, so I just ignore them and move on.
A lot of sites let you filter by religion too. The problem is "Other" is rather wide, I would rather it have a "full" list so I really can cull out the ones which aren't appropriate. I mean, Mormon comes under "Other" on some sites. Eww.
The problem is that Christians are actually normal people. Some Christians lose sight of this, though, and assume that they have to structure their whole lives only around things that are 'Christian', hence the rise of Christian everything. Christian rock, Christian rap, Christian death metal (really? I mean, really?), Christian dating sites.
So yeah, if you frequent a Christian dating site, the odds are that people you talk to there will say something about God/Christ. That's NOT to say that ALL Christians are this way, just that the kinds of people you're liable to run into there might be.
But it isn't just Christian dating sites. Everyday dating sites also have people who preach on their main page. "My ideal partner is god fearing", etc, etc.
